FAQ
The standard ski or snowboard equipment is especially designed for beginners and learners. The skis and boards are flexible and easy to control at moderate speeds. They are designed for maximum fun and stability while perfecting the basics. So if this is your first trip to the snow or you are still counting your ski or snowboard experience in days, rather than years, this is the right equipment for you.
The premium equipment range includes an extensive choice of different types of skis and boards. This is a great choice for riders who are after something a bit sportier and are ready to take their riding to the next level. Whether that be perfecting turns on a green run, carving up the whole mountain or skiing Niseko’s famous deep powder snow.
We have a great range of skis to suit everyone from Atomic, Salomon, K2, Volkl, Line, Rossignol, Black Crows, Blizzard, Nordica and more. The Premium Snowboard range includes boards from Burton, Ride, Libtech, Gnu, K2, Rome and more.
Yes absolutely. You can swap between skiing and boarding during your rental if you wish. If you’ve booked the standard gear you can swap between standard skis and boards and if you have booked premium you can swap between either range. There is no extra charge to make the swap.
Everything you need to get you fully equipped for the mountain is available to rent or purchase at the YamaSport Shops.
In addition to your skis, boots and poles or snowboard and boots you will need:
Helmet or warm hat
Warm, waterproof outer wear (jacket and pants)
Warm, waterproof gloves or mittens
Snow goggles (on fine days you may get away with sunglasses, but snow goggles are safer and much more comfortable in snowy or windy weather.
You will also be more comfortable if you have:
Well-fitting, warm, calf length socks
Face Protection – a neck tube you can pull over your face or a balaclava are popular options on snowy days.
We highly recommend you wear a helmet – particularly if you are a beginner! Modern ski helmets are light and comfortable to wear and will protect you if you fall. They will also keep your head warm and dry on snowy days! Helmets are required for children attending group lessons with the Snowsports Schools.
