The standard ski or snowboard equipment is especially designed for beginners and learners. The skis and boards are flexible and easy to control at moderate speeds. They are designed for maximum fun and stability while perfecting the basics. So if this is your first trip to the snow or you are still counting your ski or snowboard experience in days, rather than years, this is the right equipment for you.
The premium equipment range includes an extensive choice of different types of skis and boards. This is a great choice for riders who are after something a bit sportier and are ready to take their riding to the next level. Whether that be perfecting turns on a green run, carving up the whole mountain or skiing Niseko’s famous deep powder snow.
We have a great range of skis to suit everyone from Atomic, Salomon, Line, Rossignol, Black Crows, Blizzard, Nordica and more. The Premium Snowboard range includes boards from Burton, Ride, Libtech, Gnu, Rome and more.
Yes absolutely. You can swap between skiing and boarding during your rental if you wish. If you’ve booked the standard gear you can swap between standard skis and boards and if you have booked premium you can swap between either range. There is no extra charge to make the swap.
Everything you need to get you fully equipped for the mountain is available to rent or purchase at the YamaSport Shops.
In addition to your skis, boots and poles or snowboard and boots you will need:
Helmet or warm hat
Warm, waterproof outer wear (jacket and pants)
Warm, waterproof gloves or mittens
Snow goggles (on fine days you may get away with sunglasses, but snow goggles are safer and much more comfortable in snowy or windy weather.
You will also be more comfortable if you have:
Well-fitting, warm, calf length socks
Face Protection – a neck tube you can pull over your face or a balaclava are popular options on snowy days.
We highly recommend you wear a helmet – particularly if you are a beginner! Modern ski helmets are light and comfortable to wear and will protect you if you fall. They will also keep your head warm and dry on snowy days! Helmets are required for children attending group lessons with the Snowsports Schools.
You don’t have to pre-book your rentals if you aren’t sure what your plans are, but it will speed up the rental process for you once you arrive as all the registration ‘paperwork’ is already done and you can go straight to fit out.
Providing us with an accurate height, weight, age and ability level for each renter will help to speed up the rental fit-out. This is also essential information required for us to correctly set the release settings of ski bindings.
You can request a particular piece of equipment and we will do our best to make sure it is ready for your rental, but we cannot absolutely guarantee it will be available. If your requested model is not available for any reason, we will make sure we have some similar options ready for you to choose from.
If you book your equipment with YamaSport and are staying at Skye Niseko or Ki Niseko, then you will have free equipment storage of skis, boards and boots at handy ski in / ski out locations at the base of the lifts. There is no overnight storage facility for rental gear in the Landmark View shop.
While we need to you come to the shop to get properly fitted out with your gear, we can certainly deliver your rentals back to your accommodation and pick it again at the end of your rental.
If you are no longer able to use your rentals for any reason, and you return your gear to the store before 10am, we can refund you for your unused days from that day.
We are happy to fit you with your rental gear any time after 3.00. pm on of the day prior to the start of your rental.
For longer rental periods, we build a day off into the pricing structure, so you don’t need to feel guilty about having a rest day.
Generally, we can fit you out with equipment and accessories in around 20 – 30 minutes. But if you are part of a group or are arriving during peak periods then please allow some extra time. It is best to come for fit-out well ahead of your lesson start time and allow a little extra time to get to the slopes.
